Rogerio N. Monteiro – PGeo., M.Sc., FSEG, Ph.D.


With over 30 years of experience in Structural Economic Geology, Rogerio is a recognized researcher and avid developer of tools that optimize mineral exploration and target development.

A graduate from UNISINOS Brazil, Rogerio went on to earn his M.Sc. from UFRGS, through the study of the structure, geochemistry and metamorphism of the Zapucay Gold Mine in Uruguay. He completed his Ph.D. program at the UWO in Canada, integrating structural domains and their intrinsic patterns with geostatistics, geochemistry and metamorphic history, focusing on the Ouro Fino Gold Mine in Brazil.

Rogerio joined Inco Ltd. as Senior Exploration Geologist, and was appointed Chief Structural Geologist for Vale Global Exploration in 2007. He retired from this position in 2012, and founded Vektore, a company that has since been focused on advancing the Applied Structural Economic Geology.  In 2013, Rogerio Monteiro was appointed the “Richard W. Hutchinson Visiting Industrial Professor in Mineral Deposits Studies” at the University of Western Ontario.


Tiago Eloi dos Santos – PGeo., M.Sc.


Tiago is a Senior Exploration & Structural Geologist with more than 10 years of experience in gold exploration and broad skill in data analysis and integration using GOCAD (3D), ArcGis (2D) and other softwares. Much of his career has been with Yamana Gold Inc. (2007 to 2016) where he was coordinator in all stages of gold and copper exploration projects. During the last years at Yamana he was involved with data integration, target generation and pipeline management in all Brazilian projects, greenfields and brownfields.

He received his B.Sc. in Geology  in 2004 and  M.Sc. as structural geologist in 2007, both from UNESP – São Paulo University State in Brazil. His work on structural geological mapping has been focused on defining structural architecture of regions, structural domains, geometry and structural features interactions.


Sahadia Koop – M.D., Ph.D.


Dr. Koop is a M.D. from Brazil and holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario. She attended the MBA program at the Laurentian University in Ontario and is experienced in business design, implementation, team mentoring, and management in Brazil and Canada.

Dr. Koop brings to our company expertise in research and development as well as in business optimization through multidisciplinary interaction.


Rodrigo Farias de Figueiredo - B.Sc.


Figueiredo has a Bachelor in Computer Science from the Informatics Center (CIn) at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. He is currently engaged in research and development of software's concerning innovative approaches for mining and geology challenges. His main interest areas are Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and Natural Computing. He also has experience with C/C++, Java, Python, Matlab languages; and with the OpenGL, OpenCV, QT and VTK libraries. 



Rodrigo José Batista Costa Santos - B.Sc., M.Sc.


Graduated in Computer Science at the Catholic University of Pernambuco (2012) and Computer Engineering at the Informatics Center (CIn) at the Federal University of Pernambuco (2015), Brazil. He earned his Masters degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil (2018). Member of Vektore since November 2017, his professional and research interests cover Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Artificial Intelligence and Embedded Systems. Being currently engaged in research and development of software regarding innovative approaches to mining and geology challenges. Santos has experience with C/C++, Java, Matlab, Python, CUDA languages; and with the OpenCV, QT, ViSP and OpenGL libraries.


Mateus de Freitas Leite – B.Sc.


Bachelor in Computer Science at the Informatics Center (CIn) of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Master’s Student in Computer Science at the Informatics Institute (INF) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Mr. Freitas main areas of interest include (but are not restricted to) Computer Graphics, Computational Geometry, Computer Vision and Image Processing. He also has experience with C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, and libraries such as OpenGL and OpenCV. Mr. Freitas is a member of Vektore since January 2018.


Doug Assis – B.A.


Doug is a Computer Graphics Designer with an Industrial Chemistry degree by the S. Judas Tadeu College in S. Paulo, Brazil. His artistic education diploma from the School of Fine Arts (S. Paulo, BR) coupled with several computer graphics training programs and a certification in 3D modeling by Autodesk enables him to deliver the results of the vSBI Method of Borehole Analysis. 

His training by Timo Korth from ALT - Wellcad, along with Vektore’s proprietary augmentation of Wellcad’s capability, brings to Vektore clients the most comprehensive Borehole Televiewer Image Log Analysis possible.


Natascha Koop - B.A.

UX and graphic Designer

An OCADU graduate, Natascha studied both Art and Design. She leads the user experience strategy for multiple projects at Vektore, including visual design, user research, UI design, and information architecture. In addition, her training by ESRI in ArcGIS and by Mira Geosciences in GoCad Mining brings to Vektore an invaluable support to current projects.


Matchellon Pinheiro - B.Sc, M.Sc.

Matchellon has a Bachelor in Geology from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Brazil (2014). He is currently enrolled in a Master Degree program at UFRN, working with Mineral Chemistry and Geochemistry of igneous rocks. He is also Geology and Mining Technician with 6 years of experience in the Oil Industry working for Petrobras SA. He has recently joined Vektore to work with the borehole image analysis unit and the vSBI™ software.



Michael Noal


Michael is currently studying geology at  Universidade do Vale do Rio Sinos (UNISINOS) in Brazil. He is excited to join Vektore's team to learn the vSBI™ structural logging module at our borehole image analysis unit. 



Peter C. Lightfoot PhD, PGeo



Peter received his B.A. in Earth Sciences from Oxford University in 1980, his M.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in 1982, and his Ph.D. from the Open University in 1985.  Following post-doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, he joined the Ontario Geological Survey in 1987, and worked extensively on the geology and geochemistry of Sudbury and Noril’sk.  After 10 years with the Ontario Geological Survey, he joined Inco where he was responsible for technical aspects of the exploration program at Voisey’s Bay. Following a period of international project generation work, Peter was appointed Chief Geologist responsible for technical aspects of the exploration programs at Sudbury, Thompson, and Voisey’s Bay and he advised management on strategic developments in the supply side of the nickel market. In 2016, Peter published the first comprehensive  textbook on the ore deposits of the Sudbury Igneous Complex, and at the start of 2017, he was appointed as the Hutchinson Visiting Industry Professor at the University of Western Ontario. Peter is now an independent consultant to the minerals industry. His company,  Lightfoot Geoscience Inc, provides consulting services to companies exploring for and developing Ni-Cu-Co-PGE sulfide and laterite ore deposits.


Brian Bengert, MSc, P.Geo.



Brian received a B.Sc. in Geophysics in 1994, and later obtained his M.Sc. from York University in 1996 specializing in Time series and Data Analysis.  Upon graduation, Brian spent five years as a field Geophysicist working for Quantec Geoscience in North and South America.  Brian worked as a geophysicist 15 years for Inco which later became a part of Vale.  He started at Inco with major responsibility for the Voisey’s Bay nickel project, and was a principal member of the team that discovered the deposit that would become the future underground operation.  After the takeover by Vale, Brian was quickly transferred to international work and was subsequently given the responsibility for best practices in global geophysics. Over his career, Brian has gained extensive experience collecting, processing and interpreting geophysical data.  He has been involved in the development of several geophysical methodologies, including Array MT/IP, natural field EM, borehole IP, and Groundfloor EM.  His experience was gained from projects covering a wide spectrum of commodities, including nickel, copper, gold, iron, zinc, lithium, coal, and diamonds.

Jair Carlos Koppe


Professor Jair Carlos Koppe, Mining Engineer and Geologist, MSc. and Dr. in Sc., is engaged in the Post Graduation Program of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. He has worked in research, teaching and consulting since 1980. His work experience includes the position of mining engineer and geologist in mineral exploration of gold, and mining of gold and dimension stones. His research interests include rock mechanics, unit operations of mining, mine planning, mineral exploration and mine reclamation and waste management. Professor Koppe leads the blasting engineering and the rock mechanics emphasis areas in the Mining Engineering Department at UFRGS. He his been publishing regularly technical papers in international journals and international conferences. He has authored and co-authored over 250 publications.


Farid Chemale Junior


Farid Chemale Junior graduated in Geology at the Vale do Rio dos Sinos University  (1978) in Brazil.  He received his Master's degree in Geochemistry  at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1982) and his Ph.D degree at Naturwissenschaften from Technische Universität Clausthal (1987).  Has experience in Geosciences, focusing on Tectonics, acting on the following subjects: isotope geology, structural geology, analysis of sedimentary basin and metallogeny in South America, Southern Africa and Antarctic.


Francisco Abreu


Francisco Abreu is a geologist graduated from the University of Fortaleza, Brazil (1986). He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Metallogeny, Structural Geology and Geochemistry from the University of Campina, Brazil (1991). Mr. Abreu brings to Vektore his extensive and successful experience in conceptual target generation, greenfield exploration and project management. Mr. Abreu worked for various major and consulting companies, such as: Votorantin Exploration, Goldfields Exploration, Docegeo (Vale Exploration) and Coffey, before joining Vektore as associated consultant. His experience in gold exploration spans from Archean greenstone belts to Meso-Neo Proterozoic orogenic belts environments; including Au-Cu and Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag polymetallic veins associated to Neo Proterozoic epithermal systems and Zn mineralization associated to Neo-Proterozoic basins. Mr. Abreu is well published in peer-reviewed magazines and his current research focus on structural complexities of hydrothermal gold deposits. He is affiliated and active member of various international geoscientific societies (SEG-Fellow, AIG, GSA and SGA). Mr. Francisco Abreu will provide support primarily to our Clients in South America and help grow our business worldwide.


João Luis Vieira


Software Engineer Specialist in Software Development Patterns best practices by Ceara State University (UECE), and Systems Analyst by University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR), Brazil.

Mr. Vieira has extensive experience in Software Development Consulting as an Enterprise Architect Specialist and Functional Architect. His work experience includes: Design Requirements and Architecture in Unified Modeling Language (UML); Functional Analysis and Requirements Analysis; System Design by Mobile, Desktop and WEB Solutions and Development in Multiple Platforms and Languages Systems (.NET, C++, JAVA, Delphi, Oracle and SQL Server).
